Here is a story that I heard recently, and it has really made me think:
There was some group that wanted to conduct a study on Missionaries. It was to be a psychiatric review of people who have served, or were serving in the field. The point was to see what made these people tick, and why they choose to drop everything and follow God's calling.
A pastor was approached and asked what he though about the idea of the study. His response, "That is the stupidest thing that you could ever do." His point was that coming from a baseline of what we consider "rationale decision making" that missionaries will all come up as crazy. I mean, what rationale sense does it make to drop everything, forgo in a sense a more "comfort filled" life, and try to spread the gospel based on a feeling?
Are we crazy for doing mission work? We darn well might be from some perspectives. But, the way in which I have felt God's call has truly been the most amazing experiences I have ever felt. There is a true sense of rightness and peace in what you are doing when you follow that tug on your heart.
Maybe I'd be crazy not to do it.......
